PSU :: Ice Sculpture Heist :: January 22, 2007
|
Part of Penn State's groundbreaking ceremony for the new Law School included an ice sculpture model of the building. A few days after the ceremony we decided to put the sculpture to better use - as an ice luge. We hacked off the West Wing, got it into my jeep by some miracle of strength, and hauled it back to the house after a brief encounter with Campus Police.
Just as we were ready to drive away from the remainder of the ice sculpture and out of the lot, a campus police officer pulled up to us. He didn't notice the 300-lb block of ice in the back seat, and instead was concerned about us taking pictures of him from a distance (huh?). Then he accused of us doing doughnuts in the snow, to which I replied "look at the tracks." (The tire tracks show us backing up into the ice sculpture - but no doughnuts.) He let us go after saying something like "you shouldn't be driving around at night." Campus police are useless.
